27th Annual Minto Run for Reach
Sunday, April 15, 2012
Thanks to our corporate sponsors, over 800 participants along with our 100 plus volunteers, we reached our goal of raising $68,000 for our programs and services.
Our great appreciation to this year’s Honourary Race Starter, John Stanton, and Honourary Race Participant, Jon Dunkerley.
Honourary Race Starter John Stanton
John Stanton is the Founder and President of the Running Room and a best-selling Canadian author of books on running. He has run over 60 marathons, hundreds of road races, and numerous triathalons, including the Hawaiian World Championship Ironman competition. His 10:1 run/walk combination has helped close to a million people do everything from learn to run to complete marathons upright and smiling. He has received awards, including the Order of Canada, for his contribution to the prevention of cardiovascular disease and the promotion of cardiovascular health.
Honourary Race Participant Jon Dunkerley
Reach is pleased to welcome Canadian Paralympic Champion Jon Dunkereley as an honourary race participant. In addition to being a world-champion wrestler in his youth, Jon represented Canada at the 2008 Paralympic Games in China, finishing 7th in the 400 metre race. Jon has also benefited from Reach’s Lawyer Referral Program when he and his brother were sued by a jogger after a running collision.
