| On behalf of Reach Canada and our conference
sponsors, I would like to thank all
the delegates who attended our Canadian Conference on Mental Health
and Deafness, which had as its theme, Working Together for a Shared
Future.
It is my belief that we all have achieved our objectives for the conference, namely bringing together persons who are hard of hearing, deafened, deaf or deaf-blind, as well as the professionals and the agencies who work with them, in order to share information and to create new linkages and networks that will ensure the sharing of resources for a brave new future, one where Canadians can work collaboratively within Canada and with the global community to make the world a better place for all persons dealing with the impact of hearing loss in their lives. This raising of awareness is an instrumental force for change and for the paving of new paths in this field. I can say that Reach Canada is so very proud that it was able to host this pioneering event. This type of work flows naturally from the mission of Reach Canada which is to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities by offering lawyer referral services and educational services at the community level. So, once again, on behalf of Reach Canada, thank you for being part of this “process for change” so that quality mental health services can be made available across Canada for persons who are deaf, deafened, deaf-blind or hard of hearing. Sincerely, Michael Sousa Conference Chairperson Vice-President Reach Canada |
