Services en santé mentale pour personnes sourdes et malentendantes en Europe/Mental Health Services for People Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Europe

Dr Alexis Karacostas est psychiatre et psychothérapeute à Paris. Il exerce à mi-temps à l’hôpital la Salpêtrière dans l’Unité d’Information et de Soins des Sourds et à mi-temps à son cabinet privé. Il est président de l’association GESTES et de l’ESMHD (European Society for Mental Health and Deafness). Il dirige la revue Surdités, revue internationale francophone sur la santé mentale et la surdité.

Dr Karacostas a présenté quelques thèmes courants relatifs au développement des services en santé mentale pour les personnes sourdes et malentendantes en Europe. Il a expliqué aussi le développement des sociétés pour la santé mentale et la surdité en Europe. Cette présentation a été offerte en français. Il y a eu interprétation simultanée vers l’anglais.

Dr. Alexis Karacostas is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Paris. He practices half-time at l’hôpital la Salpêtrière in the Unité d’Information et de Soins des Sourds and half-time in private practice. He is president of G.E.S.T.E.S. and of the European Society for Mental Health and Deafness. He is director of Surdités, an international French language publication on mental health and deafness.

Dr. Karacostas presented current developments in mental health services for persons who are deaf and hard of hearing in Europe. He also discussed the development of mental health and deafness societies in Europe. This presentation was offered in French with English interpretation.

She provides intense family therapy in sign language throughout Finland, both face-to-face and to remote communities using video conferencing.
