40th Anniversary

Reach turns 40 in 2021

"Congratulations on celebrating such an important milestone. It certainly reflects Reach’s enduring legacy and its importance to the community.

Its not an over-statement to say that Reach changed my life. In terms of the people I have met, the lessons I have learned and the perspective that I have been given with being involved with Reach. It’s been nothing other than inspirational, really."

-Michael Sousa, President, Reach Canada 2005-2009

In 1981, Lawrence Greenspon, Ernest Tannis, and Rod Carpenter founded REACH - an organization focused on access to justice for people with disabilities. Now, 40 years later, Reach works with a network of over 200 volunteer lawyers, paralegals and mediators in Ottawa and the surrounding area to holds educational seminars on a variety of topics relating to all types of disabilities and human rights, in addition to its highly successful legal referral program which connects people with disabilities to legal resources.
