Legal Clinic Coordinator
Joanne is a graduate of the University of Ottawa Law School and called to the Ontario Bar. She also has a background in Social Work completing a Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto and a BSW from McGill University. Over her career in Ottawa, she has combined her education whether as a lawyer for the Children’s Aid Society, Family Mediator with Legal Aid Ontario, or as a social worker in child protection assessments at both The Royal Ottawa and CHEO. She has taught at Algonquin College and provided career counselling at the Faculty of Common Law at U of Ottawa. Joanne started at Reach in February 2015 as a bilingual Coordinator of Lawyer Referral Services and Education and held the role of Executive Director until August 2019 before transitioning to her current role as the Legal Clinic Coordinator.
Manager of Fundraising and Special Events
Josie started with Reach in February 2016. Prior to that, she held various positions in fundraising and retail management & operations. Josie studied Economics at the University of Guelph, graduating in 2010, and after moving to Ottawa studied Event Management at Algonquin College which she completed in 2015.
Manager of Legal Programs
Raija Pulkkinen is Reach's Manager of Legal Programs. She has been with Reach since January 2018, when she started as Reach's Outreach Coordinator. In that capacity, she has worked to expand Reach's legal referral service for people with disabilities. She also facilitated Reach's community-based legal referral clinics and legal education sessions.
Raija was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2003 and worked in private practice as a research lawyer, focusing on the areas of human rights, labour and administrative law. She also served as a member of the Commission Counsel team at the Cornwall Public Inquiry.
Before becoming a lawyer, Raija worked with vulnerable children and youth in the social services field. She is the mom of two active, school-aged children.
Michael is a recent graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School. He is very excited to be a member of the Reach team and honoured to work with and on behalf of persons with disabilities, having spent a significant part of law school focused on critical disability studies while gaining practical experience at ARCH Disability Law Centre. His passion for advocating on behalf of clients with disabilities and human rights law in general stems from his time in uniform with the Canadian Armed Forces.
He is a member of the Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario. He is equally proud to be a member of the County of Carleton Law Association and Treble Victor, a veterans’ support group. Having grown up in Ottawa’s west end, Michael is very happy to return to the city and begin his legal career.
