Legal Referral & Information Clinics
This project allows Reach to deliver legal services directly to people at drop-in centres and shelters – the places where people congregate to access other services such as health care, food, employment assistance and counseling - or virtually with the assistance of community organizations who provide these in-person services. It is the initiative’s goal to provide free legal services and increased knowledge to clients and support staff of community organizations about the value of law to empower even the most vulnerable citizens. This project is funded by the Ottawa Community Foundation and will continue throughout 2021.
This project will build on the success of a pilot project funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, where clinics were held in both Ottawa and the surrounding communities of the Champlain region free of charge between October 2017 and March 2019. The initial project focused on assisting with legal forms.
Upcoming Clinics
Reach regularly schedules drop-in clinics for legal referrals or for legal information in partnership with organizations throughout Ottawa and the Champlain region. Due to COVID-19, Reach will be holding Legal Referral & Information Clinics virtually.
